Ultralamp
Technology
Our CFL lamps are designed to the highest specifications and
retain features that offer value to the retail market as well
as the
supply-side market.
In 1987, Ultralite was the first in the World to produce the
Environmentally Friendly Electronic CFL lamps with replaceable
tubes.
In 1989, Ultralite International was the first company in
the World to produce the High Power Factor, Low Harmonic Distortion
compact fluorescent lamps (CFL), technology that permits lower
power line losses, and lower Distorsions to the power supply
line voltage which affect communication equipment and computers.
All our CFL lamps use pure Tri-Phosphor powder. Tri-Phosphor
produces superior lumen output efficiency and retains better
lumen maintenance characteristics when compared to other materials
commonly used in CFL lamps, such as Halo-Phosphor powder or
mixtures of Tri-Phosphor and Halo-Phosphor powder.
Cost
Savings - Lower Energy Consumption AND
Longer Life !
It is commonly known that our CFL technology uses less than
20% of the energy consumed by ordinary incandescent light
bulbs.
What is less commonly known is that our CFL lamps last a
lot longer than ordinary incandescent lamps with the standard
tube life meeting IEC60969 standards of 6000 hours.
Generally 1 of our CFL lamp will last as long as 8 to 10 Incandescent
lamps. Although each incandescent lamp is cheap, 8 or 10 of
them plus the time and effort to buy them and install them
add up to much more than the cost of One CFL lamp.
Taking electricity at a cost of US$0.10 per KWH, the savings
from our 20W CFL will pay for the lamp within 6 months of
normal usage.
Upon request, we can also produce lamps with a 15000 hour
life span*.
*Average life of 15,904 hours as tested under UK BSI standards.
Safety
Ultralamp CFL lamps have filter circuits for reducing Radio
Frequency Interference(RFI), a fault common with other CFL
lamps that causes interference with radio, television, and
telecommunications devices, including mobile phones. To this
effect, our Ultralamp technology complies with Electromagnetic
Compatibility(EMC) regulations to reduce the possibility of
potentially harmful emissions of Radio Frequency radiation.
EYE
Protection
Our electronic-ballasted CFL's will also reduce eye-fatigue
when used to replace the still commonly used older magnetic
ballasted fluorescent lamps. Eye fatigue is sometimes experienced
with magnetic ballasted fluorescent lamps due to their lower
operating frequency of around 100 Hz (100 times per second).
Eyes of young children are particularly sensitive to this
low frequency flicker, although Adults normally can't detect
it..
The CFL lamp switches at the rate of about 25,000 cycles
per second, far above the sensitivity of human eyes, hence
avoiding fatigue.
Cutting-Edge
Technology for Developing Nations
Ultralamp CFL lamps are also designed to start at very low
supply voltages down to 150 V AC, as well as being designed
to tolerate short-term very high supply voltage surges up
to 264 V AC or higher if required.
These features are vital for developing areas where the supply
voltage can fluctuate widely.
DC
operated CFL lamps
Ultralite has also developed a series of 12V or 24V DC operated
CFL lamps and ballasts for operation using Solar panels and
batteries in remote areas or islands without mains power supply.
These are also ideal for use in Emergency Lamps and Exit lamps,
making obsolete the complicated Inverter unit plus magnetic
ballast plus stater circuit.
CFL
lamps for Remote areas
Ultralite has developed a series of low wattage, High Efficiency,
High PF, and low distortion CFL lamps which are ideal for
use in remote areas where there is only small Power generators
using Micro Hydro generators, Wind power generators, and solar
panels. For these small generators High Power Factor, Low
Harmonic Distortion and High Efficacy are essential.
